If you have medium to long hair, don’t you sometimes just wish that you could rock a super cute short haircut without the commitment? I have a fun little trick that you should give a try sometime soon! It will change your entire look, and if you’ve been thinking about cutting your long locks, try this out first!

Begin by making your hair super curly. I use a wand curling iron on mine to achieve tight curls, and I curl AWAY from my face. Give it a good spritz with hairspray. The more layers you have, the better.

Backcomb at the root a bit to get more volume around the crown of your head.

Divide your hair into 3 sections: One on each side of your head and then one in the back of your head. (Consider 4 sections if you have tons of luscious hair!) Take the end of one section and begin loosely twisting away from your face in the direction of your curls. Do NOT twist too tight – just enough that all the ends are gathered together.

Take the twisted hair and using several bobby pins, tuck and pin the section under your hair just below the middle of your head or where is most comfortable.

Repeat the process in the back and other side of your head.

Once all sections are pinned in and feel secure, go through and gently loosen small pieces to add body, shape and fullness as you feel necessary. You may need to hide/pin any random wild pieces too. It may take some practice to get it just how you like it for your own personal style.

Voilà! Now you can have your cake and eat it too! Give it a good spray and have fun!

Don’t get discouraging if it is tricky the first time. As with everything, it becomes much easier with just a bit of practice! A huge thanks to my sweet, hair guru friend Nick Carter for teaching me this secret several years back!
